red-bull-reign

Getting buckets and representing Belgium in Washington. You in? Red Bull Reign will give you the opportunity, if you can make it reign.

It will be a first for Belgium, but you might have already heard about Red Bull Reign. The Red Bull 3X3 competition is all about scoring as many points as you can and will be part of our 3X3 Masters tour in 2018.

Red Bull Reign?

The set-up is simple: the team which scores the most points wins. But here’s the catch: we don’t mean most points in regard to your opponent, we mean most points on average over ALL your pool phase games.

The Red Bull Reign competition is played in several countries and they all lead into 1 big final in Washington, USA.

Red Bull Reign X 3X3 Masters

Every – all Belgian – 18+ Elite Men team that plays at 3X3 Masters Zaventem, Aalst, Brussels, Kortrijk and Antwerp is participating in the Red Bull Reign competition. You read that right: only all Belgian teams (every player in the team has to hold the Belgian nationality) are allowed #sorryifyourenotBE and there’s no need to do an additional registration if you want to participate at Red Bull Reign. Just sign up for one of our tournaments in the 18+ Elite Men category and you’re in.

The top 2 scoring teams will advance to the Red Bull Reign Belgian Finals on July 28 in Antwerp.

Only points scored in the pool phase of the tournament are taken into account and in case some teams play less games than others in pool phase, we will take a look at the average points scored to determine to 2 top scoring teams.

Calendar

You can participate at the Red Bull Reign competition at one of these events:

  • 3X3 Masters Zaventem – June 24
  • AWBB 3X3 Masters Jambes – June 24
  • 3X3 Masters Aalst – June 30
  • 3X3 Masters Brussels – July 6
  • 3X3 Masters Kortrijk – July 14
  • AWBB 3X3 Masters Charleroi – July 14
  • 3X3 Masters Antwerpen – July 28

The winner of the Belgian Finals will get an all-in trip to Washington, to play at the Red Bull Reign World Finals on September 15.

Make it Reign!

MAJOR SHOUT-OUT to the great KING CHAN
He put in a LOT of time (and less sleep)  to get you all in those beautiful pictures, so give him some credit.

Lastly, shout-out to the 3X3 Masters crew who put in the work every tournament, just so everybody can play ball.
(Some of them are missing on this pic, but we didn’t forget about you!)

We had sun, we had a beach and sea and… we had lots of high-level basketball!

The 3×3 Masters stop in Oostende proved to be very popular once again, as lots of teams came to the Belgian Coast to ball. The weather forecast wasn’t promising, but the storm stayed away, so we had a great day.

First, we need to give a shout-out to our NBA 2K shoot-out winners, Milan in the youth competition and Angelo in the 18+ competition. They went home with a copy of 2K17 after shooting the lights out.

In the morning it were the local Ostend Flyers who took away the head price in the U13 category, outgunning the Black Devils. In the U15 field, the Airhoopers came out on top.

In the afternoon, Ballout84 came out on top in the U18 tournament, while the Donkey Ballers were the cream of the crop in the 18+ Recreational field. In the Women’s categories, Wolfpack, with Belgian Cat Kyara Linskens, won the title, outlasting the U18 Rockets in the Finals.

The exciting 18+ Elite Finals were won by The Chiefs, outlasting German side Der Stamm with 16-15. Jonas Foerts of The Chiefs hit the game winning jumper.

Check out the epic pics from our great photographer King below:

What up everybody!

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 july, we took the 3X3 Masters tour to our nation’s capital and we had a blast! And we have the proof in the pictures you will find below.

The event was spread out over two days, with the U15 and the 18+ Elite Men playing on Saturday and the U18 Boys and 18+ Women playing on Sunday.

On Saturday, Max Ghysbrechts of team Blowout took away the 2K Shoot-Out Contest, defeating his teammate Lukas Verhoeven and Matthias Offeciers. In the U15 competition, Giantsnation blew out their opponents on their way to the finals, where they defeated Blowout in a exciting game.

In the 18+ Elite Men Competition, there was a lot of firepower and a big crowd turned up to show some support. In the end, The Chiefs showed they were the best team, by beating Team Celis with coach Nick Celis in the semi-finals and then doing the same to Rochdi Benzouien’s team DuLourd in the finals.

The main event of the day was the Dunk Contest, where Kevin Tshupula was crowned the Dunk King.

On Sunday the U18 Boys and 18+ Women were on the programme. Before noon, it were the Sweet Ballerz who took away the prize in the U18 field. In the Women’s tournament, bronze medalist Julie Vanloo showed up and lead her team to victory in the afternoon.

Now, let’s take a look at some of King’s best shots:

From 7 till 9 july, the beautiful city of Amsterdam held the European 3X3 Championship. In the men’s tournament, Latvia surprisingly came out on top, beating Slovenia. In the women’s final, Russia had the advantage over Spain.

The stunning location, right next to the Rijksmuseum, in the middle of Amsterdam, was accentuated by the enormous 3X3 stadium, where 2.105 spectators could take place. This was the biggest temporary 3X3 stadium ever.

In the men’s tournament was host Netherlands not strong enough for title-favourite Serbia (22-13). Latvia, Slovenia and Ukraine also secured a spot in the semis, where Latvia pulled off an upset by sending Serbia home, 17-19. In the other semi-final, Slovenia had no match in Ukraine, which it beated 22-8. In an exciting Finals matchup, outsider Latvia beat Slovenia 16 to 13, crowning themselves European Champions. Ukraine won the bronze-medal game.

In the women’s competition, home team Netherlands did make the semis. However, Spain was too strong for the hosts, beating them 9-11. Russia secured the other Finals spot, outplaying France 16 to 12. In the Finals, Russia hit from all angles to beat Spain with 14-22. Home team Netherlands finished strong by winning the bronze.

Look below for the 10 best plays of the tournament: IFrame

Due to the weather conditions, we were balling in the ‘Lange Munte’ in Kortrijk, instead of the ‘Veemarkt’. Not that it messed up our vibe though, check out the recap!

Again, we need to give a shout-out to the 2K shoot-out contest winners. In the U13/U15 category, Milan (U13) seemed unstoppable, while Pallieter took away NBA 2K17 in the U18/18+ Category, after a tie-breaker with Ilyes.

The Dunk Contest was won by Thomas, representing team Persy.

These teams made sure they earned a spot at the 3X3 Finals in Antwerp:

  • 18+ Elite Men: Air Africa / Team Persy / Retro / Monaco
  • 18+ Women: D Deerlijk & Rookies / Coastgirls / Poland / Negenduust
  • U18 Boys: Coast to Coast / Litty / Ballers / H-Town
  • U18 Girls: BTK Bitches / Shooters / Echo
  • U15 Boys: Melco Bballers / The Jokers / Helios / K-Warriors
  • U13 Boys: Okapistars / Bad Bananas / Waregem U12A

The games in the 18+ Recreational section were just for fun, but nonetheless they deserve a shout-out for the effort they put in. Nasty came out on top, followed by Magicians, Noobs & Sparta.

Just like that, 3X3 Masters Zaventem flew by. Thank God (and our photographer King) for the awesome memories as we take a look back at the second tournament in our 2017 tour.

First of, a big shout-out to the winners of the NBA2K Shoot-Out Contest: Kostic in the U13/U15 category and Soufian in the U18/18+ category. Both went home happy and proud with an NBA 2K game in their back pockets.

The competition was fierce in the Dunk Contest but Kris Kalondo proved to be the best amongst the young high flyers. Congrats young fella!

A whole lot of teams qualified for the 3X3 Masters Finals at Zaventem:

  • 18+ Elite Men: 1. Leadersportz (BEL) / 2. Mamurna Jutra (BEL) / 3. BTW Rumbeke (BEL) / 4. Under Armour (BEL)
  • 18+ Women: 1. Hotshots (BEL) / 2. The Hot Shots (BEL) / 3. Roro&Co (U18)

Our men’s teams consists of Loic ‘Lo-Show’ Schwartz, who’s heading to reigning champ Ostend, Maxime Depuydt from Brussels, Stephane Moris from Kangoeroes and 7’0 Amaury Gorgemans from Charleroi. 3X3 Lions

Our female baller squad has Lara Gaspar from Waregem, Emmanuella Mayombo from Castors Braine, Caroline Bourlioux from Liège and Romina Ciappina from Keltern on the team.
